Sixth AsiaKLEMS Conference, June 2023

The 6th AsiaKLEMS Conference, organised in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India, was held on June 12-13, 2023, at Lonavala, India. Focused on "Productivity, Growth, and Resilience in Asian economies," the conference featured keynote speaker Shri Shaktikanta Das, RBI Governor, and plenary sessions with global experts, including Barbara M. Fraumeni and Prof. Kyoji Fukao. Discussions explored structural drivers of productivity, the impact of exogenous shocks, and the role of digital transformation. Seventh WorldKLEMS Conference, October 2022

The 7th WorldKLEMS Conference, hosted by The Productivity Institute at the Alliance Manchester Business School, took place from October 12-13, 2022. Welcoming around 100 participants, the conference featured 4 plenary sessions, 12-18 parallel sessions, an opening keynote, and a dinner speech, encompassing a diverse array of topics with 60-80 paper presentations. As an in-person event, the conference kicked off with an evening reception on October 11th, fostering valuable networking opportunities and academic exchange. The University of Manchester provided an enriching backdrop for this gathering of international experts, contributing to the ongoing dialogue on productivity and economic growth.

Sixth WorldKLEMS Conference, March 2021

During the sixth conference, in a series of international conferences devoted to research on productivity and growth in the world economy, discussions were held on recent progress in the development and application of sectoral data sets on output, inputs of capital (K), labor (L), energy (E), materials (M), and services (S) for individual industries. Productivity of each industry is the ratio of output to all inputs. These data sets are now available for more than forty countries. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held in a virtual format.

Fifth WorldKLEMS Conference, June 2018

The Fifth World KLEMS Conference was hosted by Samuel W. Morris University Professor Dale W. Jorgenson on June 4 and 5, 2018. The conference brought together researchers from throughout the world to discuss recent progress in the development and application of sectoral data sets on output, inputs of capital (K), labor (L), energy (E), materials (M), and services (S), and productivity or output per unit of input. These data sets are now available for more than forty countries. More than a dozen countries publish these data sets annually as part of the official national accounts, following the United Nations’ System of National Accounts 2008.

Fourth WorldKLEMS Conference, May 2016

The Fourth World KLEMS Conference was held in Madrid, Spain, on May 23 and 24, 2016. This Conference has brought together more than 80 researchers from 5 continents interested in the analysis of the sources of growth. The objective of the Conference is to discuss recent progress in the development and applications of KLEMS data sets. These data are widely used in research on economic growth and structural change and in international comparisons based on purchasing power parities. The meeting took place at the Madrid offices of the BBVA Foundation, which are located in the central part of the city.

Third WorldKLEMS Conference, May 2014

The Third World KLEMS Conference was successfully held in Tokyo, Japan, by the Research Institute for Economy, Trade, and Industry (RIETI), on May 19-20, 2014. The theme of the conference was Growth and Stagnation in the World Economy. The Conference was co-sponsored by Hitotsubashi and Gakushuin Universities. The Third World KLEMS Conference was followed by the RIETI World KLEMS Symposium on Growth Strategy after the World Financial Crisis. Tsutomu Miyagawa organized the RIETI World KLEMS Symposium. Support for the reception was provided by the Japan Productivity Center.

Second WorldKLEMS Conference, August 2012

The Second World KLEMS Conference was successfully held at the Harvard Kennedy school, Taubman Building, on August 9-10, 2012. The objective of the Conference was to discuss recent progress in the development and applications of KLEMS data sets. These data are widely used in research on economic growth, structural change, and international comparisons based on purchasing power parities.

First WorldKLEMS Conference, August 2010

WORLD KLEMS's first Conference was held at the Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, on August 19-20. The organizing committee includes Dale Jorgenson of Harvard, Marcel Timmer of the University of Groningen and Bart van Ark of the Conference Board and the University of Groningen. The meetings were held at Harvard’s new Center for Government and International Studies.
